2010 I am On My Way to Freddie

August 24th 2010 Today stared wonderful. You just riding next to the river Drau, and around you, near and far huge mountains shows different faces. Some of them standing right next to the river, with hundreds of meters vertical rock walls. Other ones close the horizon with their snow covered peaks... But, after a short sightseeng in Villach, there came a really big storm. The rain & the wind would like to stop me, "but, no ones gonna stop me now", so I arrived to Spittal after a 3 hours riding in awful weather conditions. All my stuff wet & dirty, so I decided to sleep in a hostel tonight. And praying for better weather for tomorrow...

August 25th 2010 Greetings from Italy! Third country on my trip.  I'm in a camping in Dobbiaco. The wonderful peaks of Dolomits around me. Todays weather was much better than yesterday. The most memorible moment was at morning in Sachsenburg, the lovely (and peaceful) centre of the village (like a jewel box) amazed me. One more thing. On the last few km-s I rode together with a friendly Italian biker (I forgot to ask his name), who guide me right to the camp. I told him about my trip, so maybe He will read this. August 26th 2010 Today was (hopefully) the most longest etape (144 km). So, on the fourth day I'm at 530 km. It was amazing to wake up next to the Dolomits. I started to ride, I look around...and I feel myself "in the lap of the gods".  And there were a lot of beautiful towns & villages again. Rio di Pusteria, Bressanone, Chiusa, Bolzano... Was a bit too hot on the afternoon, but its better than rain. The last climb between Bolzano & Appiano was absolutely terrible (after 120 km-s) for me, but I survived! Tomorrow I wanna swim in Garda lake! All the best. Tibor. PS: many thanks for your support!

August 27th 2010 "Lazy" day, 90 km. I stopped in most of the cities to look around a bit (Malcesine, Torri del Benaco, Lazise, Sirmione). Was very hot all day. Lots of cyclists training on the road. I joined a group for a few km-s. It was a feeling like a real "Bicycle Race". Tibor

August 29th 2010 Said goodbye to the lake Garda. "In only seven days" arrived to Milan. I was fast enough to occupie my hotelroom at 5pm. Now I'm trying to take a walk in the city. It's harder than to ride.:-) But I dont give up! Now the lights turned on, so I'm going to take some pix, Milan by night. Cheers. Tibor

August 30th 2010 No cycling, but walking today. I tried to see as more sight as I can. Milan has lots of it. So, it was a big walk. The Duomo has got incredible size! Another beautiful (and also very big) monument the Castello Sforcesco. And there are those uncountable temples. And for me the most mystic place, the Teatro alla Scala. I hope, somtime in the future I can visit a performance there... All the best. Tibor August 31th 2010 Was very funny to ride in Milan centre today morning. Uncountable bikers and cyclists on every part of the street. I really enjoyed it! At midday I had some technical problems. I had to change the inside tube on the back wheel two times. But, I arrived right to Feriolo. The lake Maggiore has got absolutely different atmosphere than the lake Garda. It's peaceful, silent, with not too many people. But there comes the battle tomorrow. The "enemy" called Simplonpass, and its 2006 m high. I must win, anyway... Ciao. Tibo

September 1st 2010 I did it. It was a 40 km-s and 5 hours long climb, started at Crevoladossola. The last 15 was the most hardest. Sometimes I felt I have not enough power, but finally survived the crisis and when arrived to Simplonpass I ate a big cake and drank a beer (non alcohol of course:-)). After this the downhill to Brig was a dream. I just let the wheels roll... ROCK'N'ROLL! Tibor

September 3rd 2010  I am very near to Montreux. Last night, before the Memorial Day starts, I spend in Martigny. Lovely town with the most pleasant campsite I've ever been. Today I didn't wake up too early:-). Then I visited some beauty towns in Rhone valley (Brig, Sierre, Sion).  This is my last post. Thank you for reading this. September 3rd 2010 MONTREUXMUSIC ANNOUNCEMENT: As forseen, TIBOR arrived Saturday at 8.25pm in Montreux. He was welcomed by Peter Freestone, Rita and Norbert. A warm reception was organized for him by Freddie’s statue. After food and beverages he was guided to the Montreux Palace in one of Freddie Mercury’s suite (yes !!) where he could get some rest.
