Shrine Climb to Visciano

A series of 14 shrines are on the route which depict the life of Jesus. They are located on the tight turns and switch backs as you proceed up a steep hill. The grade is approximately 20%. You start from the roundabout that leads to the town of Schiava and climb to the town of Visciano. The town of Visciano is a quaint place with multiple churches and bike friendly streets (made out of cobble stone but relatively free of fast vehicular traffic. The pull out area next to the Shrine of Mary and Baby Jesus offers a breath taking view, Of course at this point your out of breath already from the climb.

The better option of this route is to start from Visciano if you're arriving there by car and go down hill first. You can easily reach 27+ KPH, so test your brakes before you go. The town of Visciano is a better place to park as well, rather than next to a roundabout.

This is a short route of average skill level. Its average to high on endurance as there are multiple steep areas along the route. This is a good route for experienced riders who want a good workout. Beginners should probably try something a little less challenging physically.
