I am a fairly fit 47 year old road rider and occassional racer. I'm lucky enough to travel to Germany (Luneburg)and Austria (Fledkirchen) with my family every year where I see two extremes! - vertical climbing in Austria or flat as a tack in North Germany! For my trips I usually take a compact 50/34 x 25 which gets me through most stuff ok. Here are some of my rides....hope you enjoy them as much as I have!
