By bicycle from Tai Po to Shatin

Set out from the vibrant market town of Tai Po, nestled at the edge of Tolo Harbour, and pedal south towards Shatin on an almost entirely paved ride. The route mostly follows dedicated cycleways—so you'll skip most of the traffic and get to enjoy peaceful riverside scenery. Along the way, you’ll pass by the famous Hong Kong Science Park and scenic stretches beside the Shing Mun River, with mountain views in the distance.

The ride covers about 16 km, with a gentle ascent up to roughly 115 meters, making it a bit of a workout but manageable for most cyclists who are comfortable with a moderate ride. Shatin is a lively district known for its shopping plazas, green spaces, and the historical sights at 10,000 Buddhas Monastery. With quiet roads and scenic cycle paths, this route is perfect if you want to explore New Territories’ urban and natural highlights on two wheels.
