About This Route

This trail was all dried up when I went on July 30th. All washouts filled with gravel and sand mixture. The entire route is almost all in the shade from the hot sun. Lots of forest on both sides of the trail. I only went in for 50 minutes and then returned by another 50 minutes. It was +34 Celcius and sunny.

Mosquito repelent and sunscreen are a must have. When cycling, no problem. But stop and rest for more than a few minutes and the mosquitoes wil find you. Not many, but you stil benefit from not getting bitten at all.

Bring extra water as there are no streams or lakes on this short two hour run (with rest breaks). It was super quiet as well. I never saw one hiker or cyclist on this run.

This part of the Kettle Valley Railway Trail System is very issolated. Well kept, but barely used. For this part of the trail, there isn't any views of any cnayons and such, as you wil be riding at the top of the mountain for some time. However, if you go another hour into the trail, there are more lakes and water available.

One nice thing, is there are preset camp fire places where you can camp out if you are bikepacking. Just don't expect to see any fellow hikers or cyclists. When I checked on another bike app, Trailforks.com, whihc has more subscribers on it, even then, the update sto the actual trail have been sparse. Like maybe one or two updates per year.

I'll make another deeper run to Beaverdale later this month and update you on the rest of the trail.

btw, the trail is only a 2% grade at best and easy to ride on. Where I stopped theres also a great BMX bike park set up. All with great jumps and runs. But again, nobody in sight anywhere. No wildlife to report either. But is sure is beautful to ride through!
