Su Stampu de su Tùrrunu needs proper walking shoes to access from Grotta Is Janas - worth the effort...

Highlights Along The Route

Point of Interest

Su Stampu de su Tùrrunu Immersed in the luxuriant and uncontaminated nature of the Addolì forest, between Barbagia and Ogliastra, in a border area between Seulo and Sadali, there is a small masterpiece of nature, at the same time a sinkhole, a cave and a resurgence with a waterfall and a small lake. Su Stampu de su Turrunu is a singular tunnel, developed in the Jurassic rocks of the Tacchi - typical reliefs with steep walls - and generated by the erosion of the water, which flows into a small cave where you will admire a stream flowing, su Longufresu, which creates a jump of 16 meters and a pond, and then continue its descent towards the valley. The karst phenomenon of extraordinary beauty, the roar of the waterfall immersed in the dense green that breaks into the pond, the silver reflections of the clear waters give the environment vitality and make it one of the most evocative natural monuments in Sardinia.

Point of Interest

Grotta Is Janas Is Janas is hidden on the border with Seulo and a stone's throw from su Stampu 'e su Turrunu, a 16-metre-high waterfall that jets out from a rock. Shrouded in an aura of mystery, the caves, 240 meters long, recall ancient fairy tales and their protagonists, the fairies. It is said that they lived away from prying eyes preparing delicacies and desserts and had been petrified by God for having killed (and mocked) an old friar. The underground cavity today contains a naturalistic treasure of great value and a particular fauna. Divided into six rooms, it will open to your gaze after a few steps leading to the vestibule, i.e. a large, slightly sloping hall where particular stalagmites grow drop by drop, wrapped in a vegetable patina. Going further, you will access s'Omu de is Janas, the house of the fairies.
