This is a 2 day ride that crosses Italy from the Ligurian to the Adriatic seas, west to east, stopping overnight at Olmo, near Fiesole, NE of Firenze. It starts at the southern end of the Italian riviera near the Cinque Terre, at a pretty touristic sea town called Lerici and proceeds SE on the flat coastal plain to Viareggio to skirt around the southern end of the Apuane mountains. The route then turns inland to Lucca and on to Firenze, passing through the historic centre. The second day sees most of the climbing, crossing the Apenine by almost the shortest route over interesting roads, with no more climbing than necessary, highest ponit 900m, droping down to Faenza, from where it is a smooth flat run NE to Ravenna.
