Overview

About this route

1

Along the route of the outer green ring, we arrive at Zwenkauer Lake, a former open-pit mine that was used until 1999 and has been flooded since 2007. Bathing is planned for 2014, creating one of the last and largest renaturalized sections of Leipzig's "Neuseenland", covering 10 km². The Neuseenland bike route continues to Cospuden Lake, another recultivated mining site that has served as an important recreational area for Leipzig for years.
Continuing over the Pleiße and Elster cycle paths through the Leipzig floodplain landscape, a green band about 30 km long that cuts through Leipzig.

A very beautiful and varied tour with small villages and a lot of nature.
