Nambucca Heads is in a very pretty location but the first part of the ride up until we turned off on Irvines road was a bit ordinary. From there on the roads were quieter and the scenery very pretty. After a stop for coffee in Bowraville, a place that is trying to turn itself into a tourist destination - but has some way to go - we continued riding up the valley until we turned onto Williams Hill road for some serious climbing across to the Taylors arm valley.
After a brief foray up Boat Harbour Rd towards Lower Taylors Arm we made the decision that the Pub with No Beer (mapped) was a bit far in the hilly terrain. I was disappointed - next time............
Soon we were back down on the river flats making our way through Macksville and along the old highway to our starting point. The old highway has a welcome bike path for probably about half the way, which the council are busy extending. This is useful because the road has very little shoulder and the traffic, though light is travelling fast.
