Via Tauernradweg entlang der Salzach nach Hallein – meist Schotterweg, mit dem Rennrad jedoch problemlos befahrbar. In Hallein durchs Zentrum zur Winterstallstraße; auf dieser geht's nur mit wenig Anrainerverkehr auf den Dürrnberg. In Bad Dürrnberg führt eine Abkürzung über den alten Grenzübergang zur Rossfeld Höhenstraße: die Rumpelgasse, im Mittelteil mit einer ca. 300-Meter-Passage mit mindestens 30 % Steigung. Auf der Höhenstraße geht’s dann rhythmisch steigend bis zum Panoramablick (1.550 m) ins Salzachtal bzw. nach Berchtesgadener Land. Zurück über Ober- bzw. Unterau und Scheffau – absolut empfehlenswert – nach Hallein und Salzburg.
