Overview

About this collection

A relaxed, car-free ride following the Rio Hondo through the San Gabriel Valley down toward the Los Angeles River. This paved greenway is mostly flat and great for easy spins, commuting, or a family outing. Expect riverside views, parks, and (on clear days) San Gabriel Mountains in the background.

It links into bigger adventures too: connect with the Los Angeles River Bike Path to the south, or hop over to the San Gabriel River Trail around Whittier Narrows. You’ll find access points near Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, El Monte, and several road crossings—handy if you’re piecing together a longer loop.

The surface is generally smooth with a few rough spots. Shade comes and goes, so bring water and sunscreen. Keep an eye out for runners and dog walkers near park sections, and watch for sand or debris after wind or rain. Simple, scenic, and super practical for everyday rides.
