Hessian Apple Wine & Orchard Route – Offenbach Loop
A collection of 1 cycling route.
Overview
About this collection
Spin through cider country on the Offenbach loop of the Hessian Apple Wine & Orchard Route. This relaxed, mostly flat circuit winds past meadow orchards, fields, and small towns in the Offenbach district just southeast of Frankfurt. You can jump on the loop from wherever it’s convenient.
Terrain and surfaces are mixed: quiet roads, farm tracks, and dedicated cycleways, with the occasional stretch through pedestrian areas and only a few meters on busy road. A hybrid/trekking or gravel bike is ideal, especially if it’s been rainy.
Best times to ride? Spring blossom season and the autumn harvest—expect great views and farm stands. Leave time for a stop at an Apfelwein tavern or a farm shop to sample local cider and snacks. It’s family‑friendly, with gentle rises, plenty of shade, and lots of places to pause for a picnic. Follow the route signs, keep an eye on unpaved bits, and enjoy the orchards.
