About this collection
Ride across Banat, the easygoing plains-and-hills region split between Romania and Serbia (with a tiny slice of Hungary). Expect big-sky farmland, quiet backroads, canal paths, and short mountain forays. Around Timișoara you’ll find flat, breezy spins and the Bega Canal path; further out, vineyards near Recaș and the Vršac hills roll gently, while the Semenic and Anina Mountains add shaded forest climbs, gorges, and cool river valleys. Surfaces are a mix: smooth rural tarmac, town bike lanes, plus packed gravel and the odd forest track—great for touring bikes, wider-tyre road, or gravel setups. Highlights: Timișoara’s lively squares and cafes, old Swabian villages, Reșița’s industrial heritage, and wild corners of Cheile Nerei–Beușnița. Summers get hot and windy, so start early and carry plenty of water; spring and autumn are prime. Expect lots of small villages—cash and snacks help between towns. Some routes may cross borders, so bring ID and check local rules. Fuel up en route with bakeries, goulash, and grill fare—simple, tasty, and perfect for long days in the saddle.
