Overview
About this collection
A relaxed, water-themed ride that links five lakes and rivers—hence the name “Wasserquintett.” Expect shore paths, dam views, and quiet country lanes with plenty of places to stop, dip your feet, or grab a coffee by the water. You can ride it as a full loop or break it into shorter day trips; there are lots of easy entry points along the way.
Surfaces vary between paved cycleways and low-traffic roads, with the odd stretch of compact gravel, so most bikes are fine (touring, city, gravel, e‑bikes). Wayfinding is usually good with local signage, but having an offline map helps at junctions.
Best from spring to autumn for swim stops and sunny picnic spots, though it’s rideable year-round. Pack snacks, water, and a wind layer for open dam crossings, and follow any reservoir rules. Simple, scenic, and all about riding from one beautiful bit of water to the next.
