Quietway 1 (London)

A calm, mostly flat ride across inner south London, Quietway 1 links Waterloo to Greenwich via back streets, park paths, and the Surrey Canal Path. It’s a great pick for everyday cycling, families, or anyone who wants to skip busy roads.

Expect paved surfaces and steady wayfinding—some sections still show Q1 plates, others have newer Cycleway signs. You’ll roll through Southwark’s historic streets, skirt Elephant & Castle on quieter links, cruise Burgess Park, then follow canal-side paths past South Bermondsey into Deptford and Greenwich.

Trains and Tube make it easy to dip in or bail out: Waterloo, South Bermondsey, Deptford, and Greenwich are all close. Coffee stops and green spaces are frequent, and the ride ends by Greenwich’s maritime sights and the Cutty Sark.

Do it end to end for a relaxed cross-city journey, or use sections for easy east–west connections.
