Rhine Cycle Route – Stage 9
A collection of 2 cycling routes.
Overview
About this collection
A relaxed slice of the Rhine: Stage 9 rolls along the river with classic views, quiet villages, and easy cruising. The surface is mostly smooth asphalt with a few short stretches of gravel and some cobbles through old-town bits, plus the odd wooden boardwalk. You’ll ride a mix of dedicated cycleways and low-traffic roads, with a couple of gentle ups and downs but nothing too spicy.
Great for touring bikes and fine for road bikes; slightly wider tires make the brief gravel and cobbles a non-issue. Expect the occasional shared pedestrian area—slow it down and enjoy the atmosphere.
The Rhine is one of Europe’s great rivers, so there are plenty of spots to pull over for photos or a coffee by the water. Wayfinding is usually straightforward on signed Rhine sections—just keep the river nearby and follow the flow. Ideal as an easy day ride with lots of scenery and low stress.
