F400 Bicycle Expressway Ghent urban bicycle expressway ring (desired line)
F400 Ghent Cycle Ring (proposed)
A collection of 2 cycling routes.
Overview
About this collection
A future-ready loop around Ghent. The F400 is the city’s planned cycle highway ring, linking dedicated cycleways, quiet streets, and a few path sections so you can cross town without mixing with heavy traffic.
Hop on anywhere and ride a chunk or aim for the full circuit. Expect mostly smooth, paved surfaces (lots of asphalt and concrete), with occasional paving stones and short mixed-use bits. The character shifts from protected tracks to calm residential roads, so it stays comfortable for most riders.
Because this is a proposed line, some links are still evolving—wayfinding can be patchy and you might meet a short detour here and there. In return, you get an easy, mostly flat city loop that brushes past waterways and green pockets and ties together a bunch of neighborhoods.
Great for everyday commutes or a relaxed spin to see Ghent’s canals and historic vibe. Lights and a bell help on busier stretches.
