St. James Cycling Pilgrimage Route Fulda - Würzburg
St. James Cycle Route Fulda–Würzburg
A cycling tour with 2 stages, starting in Schweinfurt, Bavaria, Germany.
Overview
About this tour
A short, easy-going slice of the St. James cycling route, linking Euerbach with Schweinfurt on the Fulda–Würzburg line through Franconia. It’s mostly smooth, paved riding on quiet farm lanes and shared paths, with a couple of brief bits on paving stones and the odd farm track. Expect gentle ups and downs and a relaxed roll into Schweinfurt by the Main River.
Great for touring and endurance bikes; you don’t need chunky tires. Look for the familiar scallop shell waymarks (Jakobsweg). In Schweinfurt you can hook into the Main Cycle Path toward Würzburg or keep following the pilgrimage route west. Food, water, and cafés are easy to find at both ends.
Tips: watch for pedestrians on shared sections and a few quick road crossings. Best from spring to autumn for green fields, church stops, and classic Franconian views.
