Local Cycle Network 31 links Hook with Kingston upon Thames on mostly paved, low-traffic streets. Expect a calm ride on quiet roads with a few dedicated cycleway sections, plus short path and pedestrian bits near the centre. It’s basically flat with gentle ups and downs, so it works for everyday spins, commuting, or a family outing.

Surfaces are mainly asphalt, with a short stretch of gravel/unknown surface—fine on most bikes if you take it easy. There’s only a tiny pinch of busy road.

Roll from suburban Hook into Kingston’s riverside and lively town centre with plenty of cafés and shops, and easy links to Thames-side routes. Watch for pedestrians as you approach the centre and be ready for a few junctions and lights. A bell and lights help if you’re riding at busy times.
