Overview

About this tour

From Großpostwitz to Hainewalde following the trail of the Umgebinde houses. The route cuts across Upper Lusatia – plenty of village idyll, gentle low mountain landscapes and traditional timber and half-timbered architecture. Riding experience: mostly calm on asphalt and side roads, with short gravel and cobblestone sections, plus a few paths where you may need to push your bike briefly. The profile is clearly hilly with steep climbs and fast descents. Ideal for trekking and gravel bikes; with very narrow road tires it can get rough in places. Along the way, charming farms, small churches and frequent beautiful views towards the Zittau Mountains await. Take time for photo stops – this type of architecture is found almost only here. Note: on a few sections the route runs alongside busier roads. Overall, a moodful cultural and scenic tour through Upper Lusatia.
