A cycling tour with 2 stages, starting in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.
Overview
About this tour
A classic BC bikepacking line, the Kettle Valley Rail Trail links Hope to Summerland along the old railway corridor. Expect mostly gravel and other unpaved surfaces with mellow, steady grades, plus a few quiet-road and short paved connectors. It’s big on views: river valleys, forests, lakes, and the orchards and vineyards of the Okanagan. You’ll pass heritage trestles and tunnels on or near the route, and roll into rail towns for resupply and a dose of history.
This collection is ideal for gravel bikes and hardtails—go with wider tires for comfort. Day riders can cherry‑pick scenic sections; tourers can stitch together a multi‑day trip with camping or stays in small communities. Services can be spaced out in places, so plan water and food. Summers get hot and dusty; spring and fall are cooler but check for lingering snow or storm damage on higher stretches.
Notes: surfaces vary by segment and conditions change with weather, fires, and maintenance. Always check local updates before you go, and bring lights if you’re tackling any dark tunnels.
