Ride a classic link on National Cycle Network Route 1 between Dover and Canterbury. It threads through the Kent countryside on mostly smooth tarmac, mixing quiet lanes with signed cycleways, plus a couple of short rough or unpaved bits and the odd busier road section. Expect rolling hills rather than flat—enough climbing to keep it interesting, but nothing epic.

Start in the port town of Dover with its famous white cliffs, or in the historic cathedral city of Canterbury—works great either way. Wayfinding is simple: just follow the NCN 1 signs. You’ll roll past villages and farmland with plenty of spots for a café stop. Road bikes are fine; wider tires are handy for the occasional rough patch.
