Rocky Mountain Legacy Trail
Rocky Mountain Legacy Trail
A cycling tour with 2 stages, starting in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
Overview
About this tour
A classic Bow Valley ride linking Banff and Canmore on a mostly paved, separated path. It’s roughly 28 km one way, with gentle ups and a net descent heading toward Canmore, plus huge Rocky Mountain views the whole way. Most of the route is dedicated cycleway, with a few short connectors on quiet roads and just a tiny bit of gravel. Ride it either direction for a relaxed spin, a fitness ride, or a scenic commute between the two towns.
Start in Banff or Canmore, roll at your own pace, and make it an out-and-back if you want more miles. Expect smooth asphalt, wide views, and the occasional breeze funneling through the valley. Keep an eye out for wildlife and changing mountain weather, and be courteous around walkers and families.
Surface: mostly asphalt/paved with a very short gravel stretch. Way type: mainly cycleway with brief quiet-road sections.
