Get to know Thailand

Thailand offers a variety of bike routes through different sceneries that can be discovered with the bike route planner: Especially the world-renowned beaches and their turquoise waters are the highlight of many vacations. But also Bangkok, the capital, offers many different experiences, for example a visit to Grand Palace or Chatuchak Market, the world’s biggest market, and a tour to Wat Pho temple.

Highlights

  • On a bike tour through Bangkok, you cycle past temples, thaiboxing schools, slums and the green oasis Phra Pradaeng.
  • Bike trip to Ayutthaya. The town, former capital of the Siamese kingdom, is worth a visit and its impressive temples, a beautiful night market at the river where you can by food and an almost fairytale-like atmosphere captivate.
  • Koh Phi Phi is the original film location of “The Beach”. The landscape is beautiful and the water is crystal clear. On the island, you can visit prehistoric cave art, climb on cliffs, snorkel, dive flee from wild monkeys and, of course, bike.

Tips

  • The best times for cycling in Thailand are November and February, but December and January are also well suitable, however, in the North, it will be quite cold in the mornings and evenings.
  • There’s a good road network and people drive on the left side. There are only few designated cycling trails, but as cycling gains popularity in Thailand, more cycling trails are constructed.
  • It is customary to take off your shoes when entering temples and certain shops.
