Cycling day trip from Tainan City to Chiayi City

Hop on your bike in Tainan City, a vibrant hub known for its ancient temples, delicious street food, and laid-back southern Taiwan charm. From here, your ride takes you north toward Chiayi City, covering about 82 kilometers—perfect for a solid half-day adventure.

The route sticks mostly to smooth, paved surfaces and dedicated cycleways, letting you cruise safely through the countryside. Expect gentle uphill and downhill stretches with minimal climbing (the highest point is just under 58 meters), so it’s beginner-friendly and not too taxing.

As you pedal out of Tainan’s historic streets, you'll pass through villages, lush rice fields, and picturesque rural Taiwan. The scenery gradually shifts as you approach Chiayi, famous as the gateway to the scenic Alishan mountains and for its beloved turkey rice.
