Cycling day trip from Taichung to Chang-hua

This ride takes you from bustling Taichung, the third largest city in Taiwan and famous for its vibrant night markets and artsy vibe, down to Chang-hua, known for its iconic Bagua Mountain Buddha and laid-back vibe. It’s a pleasant 24 km route, mostly along quiet roads and access ways, so you’ll avoid heavy traffic and really get to enjoy the scenery.

You’ll roll out from Taichung’s energetic city center, and soon find yourself cruising on gently undulating terrain—the route climbs about 168 meters in total, but you’ll descend even more, so it’s a net downhill to Chang-hua. Most of your ride is on paved surfaces, though there are stretches without surface data, so be ready for a bit of adventure.

Once you reach Chang-hua, take some time to explore the town and maybe climb up to see the giant Buddha! This is a great ride for those who want to see a bit of urban Taiwan and its quieter countryside in one go.
