Bikepacking from Daxi to Yilan

Ready for a day on the bike? This ambitious route takes you from the historic town of Daxi all the way to the charming city of Yilan—covering about 159 km with some serious up-and-down action (over 4000 meters of climbing!). Daxi is famous for its old streets filled with traditional shops and tasty tofu snacks. As you leave town, you’ll quickly hit a mix of cycleways and quiet roads, carving through rolling hills and lush, mountain scenery.

Some stretches are missing pavement, so wider tires aren’t a bad idea, but don’t worry—almost a quarter of the ride is silky-smooth asphalt. Along the way, you’ll top out at a breezy 900 meters of elevation, making this a real leg-burner. Bring snacks and take breaks; the views are worth it!

You’ll finish up in Yilan, a city with hot springs, great eats, and a laid-back vibe. Treat yourself to some fresh seafood or a dip in one of the many local baths—you’ve earned it! This is definitely an epic challenge, but one packed with beautiful scenery, local flavor, and a rewarding finish.
