Cycling day trip from Banqiao District to Zhubei

This ride takes you from the bustling Banqiao District—one of New Taipei City's liveliest hubs—down to Zhubei, the energetic capital of Hsinchu County. Expect a solid day on the saddle: nearly 80 kilometers of diverse terrain, with plenty of gentle hills (you’ll climb about 740 meters in total) keeping things interesting, but nothing too extreme.

The route mainly sticks to peaceful side roads and dedicated cycleways, allowing you to dodge most of the city traffic and soak in scenic views as you head southwest. Only brief sections take you onto busier roads, so the ride stays relatively stress-free. The landscape gradually shifts from urban sprawl in Banqiao to the greenery and riversides marking the approach to Zhubei, which is known for its modern parks and Silicon Valley vibes, thanks to the nearby Hsinchu Science Park.
