Cycling day trip from Puli to Taichung

Ready for a scenic ride? This cycling route starts in Puli, a charming town nestled in the heart of Nantou county, known for its pure water, paper workshops, and as the geographical center of Taiwan. Heading north toward Taichung, you’ll cover about 65 km on mostly quiet roads and access routes. You’ll also get a taste of adventure, tackling nearly 2,400 meters of ascent (hello, leg day!) before enjoying a rewarding long descent—over 2,700 meters in total.

The highest point hits about 1,030 meters, so brace yourself for some spectacular mountain views along the way. Almost the whole stretch is on paved surfaces, though it’s a toss-up between asphalt and other pavement types. Expect minimal busy roads, with just a sprinkling of cycleways.
