Cycling day trip from Suwon-si to Seongnam-si

This ride takes you from Suwon-si, famous for its UNESCO-listed Hwaseong Fortress, up to Seongnam-si—a vibrant satellite city just southeast of Seoul. It’s about 30 km, with a nice mix of urban landscape, suburban stretches, and a bit of nature along the way.

You’ll spend a good amount of your ride on dedicated cycleways (over half the route!), making for a relaxed and low-stress journey. There are some fun ups and downs, with a total climb of around 360 meters—nothing too extreme, but enough to keep your legs honest!

The surface is almost entirely paved so you won’t need a mountain bike, though only about 1/10 of the way is newly-laid asphalt. Quiet roads and access roads help you avoid busy traffic, letting you enjoy the changing scenery as you roll on toward Seongnam’s cafes and parks.
