Quick ride by bicycle from Hwawŏn to Daegu

This ride takes you from Hwawŏn, a small leafy town just west of Daegu, into the heart of one of South Korea’s largest cities. The route is a little under 17 km and is mostly on quiet roads, so you can expect a relatively peaceful spin with just a few stretches of busier traffic as you approach the city.

There’s a bit of climbing (around 200 meters), but nothing too daunting, and you’ll pass through a mix of rural outskirts and more urban settings. Most of the surface is paved, but don’t be surprised if you encounter some rough patches along the way.

Entering Daegu, you’ll notice how the landscape shifts from countryside to cityscape. Daegu itself is known for its vibrant downtown, excellent food scene, and as a hub for Korean history and culture.
