Golden Grove to Birdwood Bike Ride

Kick off your adventure in Golden Grove, a leafy northeastern suburb of Adelaide known for its sprawling parks and relaxed vibe. From there, you’ll head northeast, trading suburbia for the rolling hills and scenic valleys that lead you toward the heart of the Adelaide Hills.

This is a solid ride at about 95 km, featuring hearty climbs (over 1500 meters of ascent!) and exhilarating descents as you weave through quiet backroads and dedicated cycleways—perfect for soaking in the views without too much traffic. Expect mostly smooth pavement, but there are a few sections of unpaved ground and gravel, so a road or gravel bike is a good choice.

The destination, Birdwood, is famous for the National Motor Museum and its charming small-town atmosphere. After that hilly workout, take time to recharge in one of their cozy cafés and maybe wander the historic main street.

Bring water, snacks, and your climbing legs—it’s a ride with some punch, but the scenery and quirky stops make it all worthwhile!
