Cycling day trip from Nexø to Rønne

This ride takes you across the beautiful south of Bornholm, starting in Nexø, the island’s second-largest town and famous for its charming harbor and traditional smokehouses. You’ll head west on mostly paved cycleways (so it’s super smooth rolling) through peaceful countryside and gorgeous coastal scenery.

The route is almost entirely asphalt—no nasty cobblestones!—and you’ll be riding mostly on dedicated cycling paths, so it's perfect for a relaxed, safe journey. Expect gentle undulations; there’s just over 100 meters of ascent in total, but nothing too steep.

Along the way, look out for wide Baltic Sea views and maybe stop for a swim or an ice cream in one of the small villages. You’ll end up in Rønne, Bornholm’s lively “capital,” known for its quaint old town, colorful timbered houses, and ferry connections to the mainland. All told, it’s around 40 easygoing, scenic kilometers—a classic Bornholm adventure!
