Cycling day trip from Carshalton to Hammersmith

This ride takes you from charming Carshalton in south London up to bustling Hammersmith in the west. Carshalton is known for its villagey vibe, picturesque ponds, and lovely parks—perfect for a relaxed start to your cycling adventure. The route covers just over 23 km, mostly rolling over paved and asphalt surfaces, and largely sticks to quiet roads and cycleways, so you’ll avoid most of the traffic.

You’ll meander north through leafy residential neighborhoods and pass through a few green spaces—maybe even spotting a few of London’s historic commons along the way. The ascent is gentle, with only about 43 metres of climbing and more descent, making it a pretty friendly ride for all levels.

You’ll finish in Hammersmith, a lively riverside district famous for its riverside pubs and the iconic Hammersmith Bridge. It’s a great spot to unwind after your spin, maybe with a drink overlooking the Thames. Just be aware that there’s a small patch of gravel, but otherwise, it’s a ride easy enough for a nice weekend jaunt!
