Quick ride by bicycle from Ridderkerk to Rotterdam

Roll out from Ridderkerk’s dike-lined streets and head northwest across IJsselmonde. You’ll be on smooth, mostly paved cycle paths almost the whole way, skirting the Nieuwe Maas as Rotterdam’s skyline grows with every pedal stroke. Keep an eye out for a quick detour to De Kuip (Feyenoord’s stadium) if you’re a footy fan. Then cross the river via an iconic bridge—the Erasmusbrug (sleek and swan-like) or the red Willemsbrug—and glide into the city center near the Cube Houses and the Markthal.

It’s about 13.6 km, gentle and flat overall with a few short ramps for bridges and flyovers. Expect mostly asphalt with a bit of paving stone here and there—nothing tricky.
