Cycling day trip from Delft to Brielle

This ride takes you from the charming city of Delft to the historic fortified town of Brielle—about 38 km of mostly flat, relaxed cycling. Starting in Delft, known for its iconic blue pottery and as a university town, you’ll soon leave the city’s pretty canals behind and glide through the gentle South Holland countryside. Most of your journey will be on smooth, dedicated cycleways, making it an easy and enjoyable route even if you don’t ride every day.

You’ll pass through peaceful fields and small Dutch villages, with only a handful of gentle ups and downs (barely 60 meters of climbing in total). Nearly the entire route is on paved or asphalt surfaces. As you approach Brielle, you’ll notice the old city walls and moat—remnants from a key moment in Dutch history during the Eighty Years’ War. It’s a great town for a rest stop, with lots of little cafes.
