Cycling day trip from Vienna to Tulln

This is a lovely ride from Vienna to Tulln, covering just under 39 kilometers of mostly flat, paved paths—perfect if you’re looking for a relaxing day out or a scenic commute. You’ll leave Vienna, the vibrant heart of Austria, famous not just for its imperial history and coffee culture but also for a super bike-friendly vibe. The route stays close to the Danube for a large part of the way, so you’ll get plenty of river views and some fresh air.

Most of the route rolls along well-maintained asphalt or dedicated cycle paths, making it beginner-friendly and speedy. Expect a gentle ascent of around 191 meters, with even more descent, so you’ll coast into Tulln feeling great. Tulln, by the way, is a real gem—a charming riverside town known for its beautiful gardens and connection to the Roman era. Once you arrive, treat yourself to a stroll along the famous Donaulände or visit the Egon Schiele Museum.
