Cycling day trip from Seeboden to Villach

Set off from the charming lakeside town of Seeboden, perched on the shores of Lake Millstatt—a popular spot for watersports and summer chilling. Your ride to Villach covers nearly 58 km of gorgeous southern Austrian landscapes, mostly on quiet roads and dedicated cycleways (so you can soak up the views without battling too much traffic).

The route has a decent amount of elevation, with around 480 meters of ascent and a bit more descent, so expect some rolling hills but nothing too wild. Surfaces are mostly paved and asphalt, with a little gravel thrown in, so a road bike with sturdy tires or a gravel bike would be ideal.

You’ll wind past alpine meadows, forests, and rivers as you make your way south. Villach, your destination, is known for its vibrant old town, friendly cafés, and its own river—the Drau. If you have time, reward yourself with a coffee and some Apfelstrudel in the historic main square!
