Cycling day trip from Rust to Podersdorf am See

This ride takes you from Rust, a picturesque lakeside town famed for its storks and sweet local wines, all the way to Podersdorf am See, a windsurfing and beach hotspot on the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl. The route is a little over 73 km of mostly gentle terrain, perfect for a solid day out in the saddle.

You’ll roll along well-paved cycleways for nearly half the way, and quiet rural roads make up most of the rest, offering scenic views of vineyards, reed beds, and open meadows. Expect a few gentle ups and downs—nothing too challenging, just enough to keep your legs awake (about 320 m of climbing).

Bring some sunscreen and water, especially if the wind picks up—this is Burgenland, after all! Once you reach Podersdorf, reward yourself with a dip in the lake or a refreshing drink at one of the lively beach cafés. Don’t forget to check out the famous Podersdorf lighthouse before you head home!
