Cycling day trip from Melk to Tulln

This ride takes you from the picturesque town of Melk to the lively city of Tulln along an 87 km route that’s a treat for any cyclist. Melk is famous for its jaw-dropping Benedictine Abbey perched above the Danube—a definite sightseeing highlight. Setting off from here, you’ll follow mostly paved, smooth surfaces (asphalt covers nearly the whole route), winding your way through some of the prettiest bits of the Wachau Valley.

The journey keeps things gentle with rolling terrain—just over 330 meters of climbing overall, mostly in manageable stretches, balanced by a bit more descent. You’ll spend a good chunk of the ride on quiet country roads and dedicated cycling paths, so you can soak up river views, vineyards, and charming Austrian villages without fretting about traffic.
