Cycling day trip from Trier to Trittenheim

This scenic cycling route takes you from the historic city of Trier—Germany’s oldest city, famed for its well-preserved Roman ruins—right through the heart of the Moselle wine country, finishing in the charming village of Trittenheim.

You’ll cover about 35 kilometers, mostly on paved and asphalt surfaces, weaving along quiet roads and riverside paths. Expect moderate ups and downs with about 500 meters of ascent and descent, making it a satisfying ride, but nothing too daunting if you’re a regular cyclist.

Along the way, you’ll cruise through vineyards and pretty wine villages. Take some time in Trittenheim to sample local Riesling—the village is practically surrounded by vineyards. The Moselle River views are gorgeous, especially on a sunny day.
