By bicycle from Sulza to Jena

This relaxed 10 km ride starts in the small town of Sulza, famous for its spa tradition and mineral springs. You’ll head north toward the vibrant city of Jena, mostly cruising on smooth asphalt and quiet roads—so it’s perfect for all types of bikes. With very little climbing (just over 30 meters up, and nearly 100 meters down), you’ll enjoy a gentle descent that makes the journey feel like a breeze.

Along the way, you’ll wind through peaceful paths and access roads, passing some classic Thuringian countryside. The final stretch brings you into Jena, a university city known for its science and optical industry history, and lively café scene. The route is almost entirely paved, with just a couple of short stretches over cobblestones or paving stones, so you won’t need to worry about rough terrain.
