Quick ride by bicycle from Schwerte to Unna

This ride takes you from Schwerte, a charming town on the southern tip of the Ruhr region—famous for its half-timbered houses and the lovely Rohrmeisterei along the Ruhr river—up to Unna, known for its vibrant art scene and the impressive Centre for International Light Art.

You’ll cover just under 19 km, mostly on quiet roads and well-paved surfaces, making it a relaxed route with only gentle ups and downs (expect about 130 meters of climbing). There’s a nice mix of scenery: rolling countryside, fields, and the occasional whisper of the Ruhr’s industrial past. With much of the ride on peaceful lanes and a pleasant stretch on tracks, it’s a great way to enjoy the fresh air. Unna’s cozy old town is a great place to grab a coffee or explore the unique light art installations at the end of your ride.
