Cycling day trip from Sassnitz to Ostseebad Binz

This scenic cycling route takes you from the dramatic chalk cliffs of Sassnitz to the stylish seaside charm of Ostseebad Binz, both located on the beautiful island of Rügen. Starting in Sassnitz, known for its historic fishing port and as the gateway to Jasmund National Park, you’ll soon find yourself pedaling through lush coastal forests and enjoying glimpses of the Baltic Sea.

The ride covers just under 22 km, with a few rolling hills that total about 190 meters of ascent—enough to get your legs working, but nothing too strenuous. Most of the journey is on smooth paved paths and quiet roads, winding past traditional thatched cottages and even through some shady beech woods. At around two-thirds of the way, the landscape opens up nearer to Binz, with its elegant beachfront promenades and classic resort architecture.

Ostseebad Binz is one of Rügen’s best-loved resorts, famous for its vibrant beach life and grand villas. Reward yourself at the end with a dip in the Baltic or a stroll along the famous pier before heading to a café for some Rügener cheesecake. Enjoy the ride!
