Cycling day trip from Riesa to Torgau

This ride takes you from Riesa to Torgau, following about 50 km of mostly flat terrain through the charming landscapes of Saxony. You’ll spend most of your time on quiet roads, country paths, and a good stretch of dedicated cycleways—perfect for soaking up the scenery without rushing traffic.

Riesa, your starting point, is a small city famous for its pasta factory (one of the largest in Germany!) and its rowing tradition along the Elbe River. As you pedal north, the route keeps things smooth with plenty of asphalt and paved surfaces, but you’ll also hit a few stretches of paving stones and some short bits of gravel—so sturdy tires are a good idea.

After about 3-4 hours in the saddle, you’ll roll into Torgau, a historic town on the banks of the Elbe, known for its Renaissance castle, Hartenfels, and as a key spot where American and Soviet troops met at the end of WWII. It’s an easygoing and scenic tour between two riverside gems—perfect for a leisurely day out!
