Cycling day trip from Rathenow to Brandenburg

Set out from Rathenow, known as the “Town of Optics” thanks to its rich industrial history, and enjoy a scenic 35.5 km ride south to Brandenburg an der Havel. The route is mostly flat, with just a few gentle climbs—perfect for a relaxed cruise rather than a hill workout.

You’ll spend much of your journey on quiet paths and roads, gliding past fields, forests, and tranquil villages. With over 90% paved surfaces (and a good chunk of that as smooth asphalt), this ride should be comfortable for most bikes. There are a few short sections on paving stones and concrete, adding a bit of variety without being too rough.

Once you arrive in Brandenburg, make sure to wander through its charming old town and riverside parks. The city is packed with history, once serving as the medieval capital of the Margraviate of Brandenburg.
