Cycling day trip from Pirna to Bad Schandau

This lovely cycling route takes you from the historic town of Pirna, often known as the Gateway to Saxon Switzerland, all the way to the spa town of Bad Schandau on the banks of the Elbe River. You’ll cover just over 25 kilometers along primarily quiet roads and smooth asphalt, making for a relaxed and enjoyable ride with only moderate hills to keep things interesting.

The journey follows the Elbe as it carves its way through dramatic sandstone cliffs, rolling past charming villages and beautiful riverside scenery. With almost all of the route paved, you can expect a smooth journey—perfect for any light touring or road bike. Pirna’s medieval old town is a great place to fuel up with a coffee and fresh pastry before you set out.
