Cycling day trip from Paderborn to Hövelhof

This relaxed ride starts in the historical city of Paderborn, famous for its impressive cathedral and bubbling springs that feed the river Pader (one of Germany’s shortest rivers, by the way!). You’ll roll northwards on mostly smooth, paved paths (over 90%), with only a few stretches of gravel or paving stones to keep things interesting. The route is predominantly flat, with gentle rises and easy descents—no mountain legs required!

You’ll weave through quiet roads and scenic paths, skirting woodlands and open fields. The traffic is minimal, so you can really enjoy the ride and the countryside air. After about 21 km, you’ll arrive in Hövelhof, gateway to the Senne nature reserve and source of the Ems river. Take your time to explore the local bakeries or catch some nature trails before heading back.
