By bicycle from Osnabrück to Wallenhorst

This ride takes you from the lively city of Osnabrück to the charming community of Wallenhorst—perfect for a laidback day trip! Rolling out from Osnabrück, a historic city known for its medieval Old Town and its part in the Peace of Westphalia, you head north on mostly quiet roads and scenic paths. It’s about 13 km, just over an hour’s relaxed cycling, with gentle ups and downs (ascent of 74 meters), so nothing too taxing.

Most of the route is nicely paved with some sections of asphalt and paving stones, and you’ll pedal past green landscapes and maybe a few small villages. The last stretch brings you into Wallenhorst, a friendly town on the edge of the Wiehen Hills, great for a coffee stop or a quick wander.

This route is a good mix of urban departure and countryside tranquility, suitable for most bikes—though watch out for the occasional gravel patch. Bring a camera; the stretch just outside Osnabrück is especially picturesque!
