Quick ride by bicycle from Nordholz to Cuxhaven

This relaxed ride takes you from Nordholz, a peaceful village surrounded by wide North Sea marshlands, all the way up to Cuxhaven at the mouth of the Elbe River. You’ll roll mostly on smooth asphalt and paved paths—perfect for a comfortable cruise, with gentle rises but nothing too steep. As you leave Nordholz, you get a feel for rural Lower Saxony, with open fields and that fresh sea air. About two-thirds of the way is on cycling paths, so you can enjoy the scenery without worrying about cars.

Once you get to Cuxhaven, reward yourself with a walk along the famous sandy beaches, or check out the old “Kugelbake”—the iconic wooden navigational marker at the very tip of the coast. The whole ride covers just under 16 km, so it’s ideal for a half-day outing, with plenty of time for coffee stops or photo breaks. Don’t forget your camera—those North Sea skies put on a show!
